Early Life

Koda Jace was born Dakota Rae on November 22, 1998, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Shortly after, Koda moved with their parents, Wallace Barwick and Sharon Thompson, to the remote opal mining town of Lightning Ridge, New South Wales. Raised alongside their older sibling Tyla Barwick, Koda attended Lightning Ridge Central School from 2006 to 2016. During high school, Koda studied Photography and Digital Media as electives, which nurtured their creative interests.

In 2016, Koda Jace moved to Dubbo, New South Wales, where they completed their final year of high school at Alesco College. Following this, Koda relocated to the Gold Coast, Queensland, where they resided for a year before embarking on their music career.

 Career

Koda Jace's career in music officially began in 2022 under the name KODA, with the release of the song "Stay - Remix." Despite the initial release not achieving significant success, Koda continued to develop their sound and artistic identity. In August 2024, Koda released their debut album *Hollywood Can Wait*, which marked a turning point in their career.

The album included several standout tracks, including the hit single "Last Words," as well as "Marilyn," "Signs," and "Dreamtime," all released within the same month. These releases quickly gained traction, capturing the attention of a global audience and propelling Koda Jace to #22 on the Global ReverbNation Pop Charts.
